Free IT assessment

Know where your IT stands, in writing.

We check eight parts of your setup where small businesses most often run into trouble, remotely from anywhere in the United States. We do not change anything during the review. Afterwards you get a plain-language report that shows what is working, what is at risk and where we would start.

What we check

Eight areas, one honest picture

Email and domain

Who controls your domain, which services are allowed to send mail for it, and whether its SPF, DKIM and DMARC records are in place.

Accounts and sign-in

Multi-factor coverage, shared logins, who holds admin rights, and accounts of people who have left.

Computers and phones

Updates, anything past end of support (Windows 10 included), protection, encryption, and the plan for a lost phone.

Backups

What is backed up, where the copies live, and the date anyone last restored from one.

Network and Wi-Fi

What your office exposes to the internet, the age of your router or firewall, and whether guests share your business network.

Website and listings

Who controls your hosting and renewals, your certificate, and your Google Business Profile.

Business software

The tools behind your quotes, stock, invoicing and bookkeeping, and the places where your team enters the same information more than once.

Privacy and compliance

Where customer information is kept and who can see it, and whether rules such as HIPAA, the FTC Safeguards Rule or your state's privacy law apply to you.

What you take away

  • A written report in plain language, usually two to four pages.
  • What is fine, so you can stop worrying about it.
  • What is at risk, and why it matters to your business.
  • Our top three recommended fixes, each with an estimated cost in USD and how long it would take.
  • A report you keep and can share with any provider, whether or not you hire us.

Our ground rules

  • Not a sales pitch. If something works, we say so.
  • No changes to your systems. We look; we do not touch.
  • No passwords handed over. You sign in and share your screen, or grant temporary read-only access.
  • No obligation and no contract.
  • Not legal advice. Where a compliance rule may apply, we say so and you can confirm it with your advisor.
