Vulnerability scanning

Find the weak spots before someone else does.

A fixed-fee scan of your network, internet-facing systems and websites, with a plain-language report that says what to fix first. Fixing it is up to you: your own IT person, or us by the hour.

What we check

Know where you are exposed

Every scan starts with a written scope, so you decide exactly what is checked.

Inside your network

Servers, computers, printers, cameras and network equipment checked for missing updates, weak settings and known weaknesses.

From the internet

Your firewall, remote access, email and anything else reachable from outside, seen the way an attacker would see it.

Your websites

Websites and web portals added to the scope when you need them. We confirm what can be tested, and with whose permission, before we start.

How it works

One scan, clear findings, your decision

The scan and report are a fixed fee. Fixing anything is a separate choice.

1. Scope it

We agree in writing what is scanned, when, and the fixed fee. Nothing is scanned without your approval.

2. Scan it

We run the agreed scans with Greenbone, an open-source scanner with a daily-updated library of known weaknesses.

3. Report it

You get a plain-language report: what we found, how serious each item is, and what to fix first.

4. Fix it, if you want

Use the report with your own IT person, or ask us to fix the findings, billed by the hour. A follow-up scan confirms the fixes.

In writing

What you get

  • A one-page summary for owners: how exposed you are, and the three things to fix first.
  • A full list of findings, each with its severity, the systems affected and how to fix it.
  • The scope and date of the scan, so you can show an insurer or a client what was checked.
  • A follow-up scan after fixes, if you ask for one, to confirm they worked.

Good times to scan

Once or twice a year, after a new office, firewall or website, or when a cyber insurance form or your insurer asks for one.

Your results stay private

Findings are confidential. We share the report only with the people you name, and handle it under our terms and privacy policy.

Scanning questions

More answers on our FAQ page.

A scan checks the systems you choose for known security weaknesses: missing updates, outdated software, default passwords, risky settings and services that should not be reachable. It reflects the access we have and the conditions on the day, so it cannot promise that every weakness has been found.

No. A scan uses automated checks to find known weaknesses. A penetration test goes further, with a person trying to break in to show what an attacker could actually do. This service is scanning and reporting. If you need a penetration test, we can help you scope one with a specialist firm.

Scans are planned with you in advance and run at a time you choose, usually after hours. We start gently and avoid tests that could knock fragile equipment, such as older printers or machinery controllers, offline. You approve the list of what is scanned before we begin.

An external scan and report is $395, an internal and external scan of one location with up to fifty devices is $795, and a follow-up scan to confirm fixes is $150, all in US dollars plus applicable sales tax. Quarterly scanning is $119 a month. Larger or multi-site networks are quoted in writing before any work starts. We use Greenbone, an open-source scanner, so there is no license cost hidden in the price. Fixing what we find is optional and billed by the hour at our normal rates.

Most small businesses benefit from a scan once or twice a year, and after big changes such as a new office, a new firewall or a new website. Cyber insurers and some client contracts also ask for a recent scan.
